Job summary

Trinity Health MI in Grand Rapids, MI is hiring Medical Assistants to support a collaborative clinical team. You will prepare rooms, take vitals, perform EKGs, draw blood, give injections, and support point-of-care testing.

Administrative duties and in-office procedures assistance are included. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, completion of an MA program with externship/internship or EMT/Paramedic training, and relevant certification or experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited MA program with externship/internship, EMT, or Paramedic program preferred.
• Certification as Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/NHA/CMAC) preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical support experience if MA program is not completed; strong testing and evaluation skills may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and patient areas.
• Take vital signs (manual and electronic).
• Perform EKGs and obtain blood samples for tests.
• Draw blood, administer injections and immunizations.
• Conduct point-of-care testing and basic pharmacology tasks.
• Handle administrative duties and charting.
• Assist with in-office procedures or treatments as needed.

Medical Assistants work in a collaborative environment to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of licensed clinical professionals in a clinic or practice environment. MAs are expected to facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience.

What you will do

• Room set up and patient preparation

• May perform or assisting with in-office procedures / treatments

What you will need

• Education- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED. Successful completion of accredited/approved: MA program and MA externship, MA internship, EMT, or Paramedic program.
• Credentials/Licensure (Preferred): Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following certifying agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) American Medical Technologists (RMA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA) National Healthcareer Association (CCMA) National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA) American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
• Related Experience- Minimum: In absence of completed MA Program/Externship/Internship, must have 2+ years clinical experience providing clinical support in community-based clinic and be subject to standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills. Preferred: New graduate or 1 or more years of previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
