Job summary

Gundersen Health System in Wisconsin is seeking a Medical Assistant to join Emplify Health's patient-centered team in La Crosse. The role supports pre-visit planning, medication refills, vitals, charting, and in-basket tasks, with a warm, welcoming approach to patients.

This 0.9 FTE position offers Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM shifts, no weekends or holidays, starting pay $21.34 per hour, and a robust benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, HSA/FSA, retirement

Qualifications

• Must have BLS for healthcare workers.
• Medical Assistant certification or eligibility per job requirements.
• Education: MA, PN or related program; NCLEX-PN eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients with a warm, welcoming demeanor and set the tone for appointments.
• Assist with pre-visit planning, medication refills, and in-basket tasks for providers.
• Room patients, take vitals, and document/chart accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with schedulers to ensure provider calendars run smoothly.
• Assist providers with procedures and equipment as needed.
• Support patient care team to promote optimal patient experiences.

What Is Available

• 0.9 FTE, 72 hours bi-weekly
• Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM
• No weekend or holiday hours required

What You Will Do

• Provide LOVE + MEDICINE to our patients by greeting them with a warm and welcoming smile and setting the tone for their appointments
• Enjoy variety in your role—pre-visit planning, medication refills, and supporting nurses with in-basket work
• Room patients, take vitals, and keep charting accurate and up-to-date
• Collaborate with schedulers to ensure provider calendars run smoothly
• Engage in hands on experience assisting providers with procedures and processing equipment
• Partner with a team of providers, medical professionals, and managers who are here to support your success and that of our patients in their health journeys.

What You Need

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program, Practical Nursing program or Vocational Nurse program or have completed education to be eligible for NCLEX-PN OR High School Diploma or equivalency and attained a Medical Assistant Certification
• BLS for healthcare workers
• Medical Assistant Certification within 15 months of hire date.
