Job summary

Indiana Health Centers, Inc. in Jackson County is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care across examination rooms, collect vital signs, and maintain records.

The MA will assist physicians during exams, perform basic procedures, and support lab and testing activities. Ideal candidates have MA program completion, HS diploma, and BLS certification, with preference for EHR experience and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients to examination rooms and provide information to the patient.
• Obtain vital signs and other pertinent data.
• Complete and update patient medical history.
• Check health care plan appropriate for patient’s age.
• Assist doctors with examinations, minor procedures, EKGs, testing and nebulizers.
• Perform venipuncture and immunizations.
• Run basic lab tests and prepare specimens.
• Update EMR with test results and logs.

IHC Jackson County is now recruiting for a Medical Assistant (MA) to join their team.

The MA contributes to IHC’s mission and goals of client satisfaction, quality of care, cost competitiveness, and productivity by performing basic preparation and examination of the patient, maintenance of supplies in the examination areas, as well as maintenance of instruments and equipment.

Medical Assistant Role Responsibilities Include

• Functions as a support person for the patient; assists the patient to the examination room, gives information to the patient, and collects information for the provider
• Obtains vital signs and other pertinent physical data
• Completes and updates the medical history of the patient
• Check the health care plan appropriate for the patient’s age
• Assists the doctor with examinations, minor surgeries, performs EKGs, hearing and vision testing, and nebulizer treatments
• Performs venipunctures and gives immunizations
• Performs HCT/HGBs, hematocrit, blood sugars, urine dipsticks, pregnancy tests, lead screens, strep tests, etc.
• Prepares and sends out laboratory, pap, lead screens, and STD for testing
• Keeps logs and paperwork associated with the above tests and procedures current
• Records laboratory tests and processes laboratory test results
• Follows up on TB and Immunizations
• Updates EMR with test results and checks results against the lab test log
• Completes medical and laboratory supply inventories for all exam rooms and labs
• Sterilizes instruments

Requirements

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Proof of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program
• Proof of current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AED included)

Preferred

• Certified Medical Assistant
