The Elliot Hospital Radiation Therapy Department is seeking a Medical Assistant with strong clinical experience and an Oncology passion to support providers in administering patient care, handling examinations, procedures, and documentation in a compliant, efficient manner. Ideal candidates are graduates of an MA program with certification and a willingness to obtain BLS within 90 days from hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient care and examinations.
• Prepare visit charts with test results and reports.
• Room patients for visits following criteria and document findings.
• Record vital signs, measurements, and health history accurately.
• Perform and document screening and testing as indicated (depression, asthma).
• Collect specimens and perform point-of-care testing where appropriate.

About the Job:

Assists providers in the administration of patient care in assigned clinical areas. Assists with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes. Performs general administrative duties in accordance with JCAHO, CLIA, NCQA and government standards, as well as company policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do:

• Performs visit chart preparation activities based on the daily scheduled appointments including diagnostic test results, emergency/urgent care reports, discharge summaries and consult/PCP reports are located in the medical record and accessible to the provider.
• Performs rooming activities for provider visits according to the documented rooming criteria including chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, medication list review, tobacco history, LMP, health maintenance overrides and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
• Obtains and documents age and/or condition-specific measurements accurately including vital signs, height, weight, head circumference, peak flow, and pulse oximetry.
• Conducts and documents hearing, vision, respiratory and ECG testing.
• Performs and documents specific screening based on condition/need including depression and asthma.
• Obtains, documents and processes specimens using the appropriate collection process and equipment.
• Performs and documents point of care testing accurately.

Who You Are:

• High school diploma or GED, Required
• Graduate from MA program, Required
• 1-3 Years of experience as an MA, Preferred
• Medical Assistant Certification, Required
• BLS, must have within 90 days from hire
