Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• BLS through American Heart Association.
• Nationally certified CMA/CCMA/RMA by AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NAHP, NHA or NCCT.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant Core Skills and specialty competencies.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs through observation, interviews, and chart review to support optimal outcomes.
• Perform clinical interventions including vital signs, pre/post visit activities, and medication refills per protocol.
• Contribute to patient care plans with the interdisciplinary team and address barriers to participation.
• Provide patient/family education and assess health literacy and readiness to learn; measure teaching effectiveness.
• Encourage patient engagement using motivational interviewing and self-management support.
• Precept and mentor new staff or MA students as needed.
