Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS through American Heart Association.
• National CMA/CCMA/RMA certification from AAMA/AMT/ARMA/NAHP/NHA/NCCT.
• Successful completion of MA Core Skills and specialty competencies per Scope of Practice.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs and report findings to providers.
• Demonstrate competency in vital signs, preventive services, previsit planning and postvisit follow up.
• Support patient plan of care in collaboration with the care team and coordinate education.
• Provide patient/family education, assess health literacy and teach-back effectiveness.
• Promote patient engagement using motivational interviewing and self-management support.
• Precept and mentor new staff or MA students as needed.
