Job summary

IU Health Bloomington is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in our clinic. Under the supervision of a physician, you will register patients, document medical histories, prepare examinations, and assist with procedures.

Requirements include a high school diploma, Medical Assistant program preferred, and current CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/CMAC certification. BLS is required; knowledge of ICD-10/CPT and EMR systems is a plus.

Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required; graduation from a Medical Assistant program is preferred.
• Current certification in medical assisting from CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/CMAC.
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• TB validated or validation within 6 months of hire preferred.
• Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.
• Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
• Ability to master standard clinical competencies per policy and checklists.
• Requires basic math and accurate data collection/entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and prepare them for provider examinations.
• Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
• Assist with patient discharges and post-visit instructions.
• Support providers during patient visits and clinical procedures.
• Coordinate patient flow to ensure efficient clinic operations.
