Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in New Mexico is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide primary support to providers, prepare patients for visits, and assist with treatments under supervision. The role includes patient preparation, medication administration, documentation, and maintaining a safe clinic environment.

Responsibilities span direct and indirect care, including scribing, appointment management, and care team collaboration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Six months of MA experience or completion of an MA or Nursing Assistant program is required.
• Successful completion of Presbyterian MA Advanced Skills Training within 90 days of hire.
• BLS (AHA, Red Cross or ASHI Healthcare Provider) required within 90 days of hire.
• Maintains current certifications in required emergency response trainings (e.g. BLS).
• Orthopedic and Podiatry Departments only: ROT Registered Orthopedic Technologist required within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform medical assistant procedures after competency within MA scope under provider supervision.
• Prepare patients for rooming and exam.
• Prepare and administer medications and immunizations.
• Suture/staple removal and dressing changes.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Provide basic education to patients.
• Set up aseptic and sterile procedures; perform office-based procedures.
