Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months of MA experience or successful completion of a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program from an accredited school required.
• Successful completion of Presbyterian MA Advanced Skills Training within 90 days of hire.
• BLS (AHA, Red Cross or ASHI Healthcare Provider) required.
• Maintains current certifications in required emergency response trainings (i.e. BLS)
• Completes all Organizational, Department of Nursing and Department‑Specific competency training/requirements within specified timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Perform MA procedures after competency within MA scope, under provider supervision.
• Prepare patient for rooming and exam.
• Prepare and administer medications and immunizations.
• Suture/Staple removal and dressing changes.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Provide basic education to patients.
• Set up aseptic and sterile procedures.
• Perform office-based procedures.
• Perform basic foot care.
• Assist with additional procedures as determined by provider.
• Participate in orientation of new hire MAs.
• May perform regulatory audits.
• Assist with visit closure.
• Participate with care team to meet patient care and clinic needs.
• May perform scribe duties after PMG scribe training.
