Job summary

UMass Memorial Health seeks a Medical Assistant II to support clinic operations under licensed clinicians. You will take vital signs, perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care tests, and assist with injections and routine exams.

The role involves patient transport, chart maintenance, prescription processing, and coordinating with insurers for pre-authorizations. A High School Diploma and a MA credential are required, with BLS/HS certification obtained within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by MA Department of Health required.
• BLS/HS certification required within 3 months if not available at hire.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms and record vitals.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care tests as directed.
• Administer non-intravenous injections when required.
• Assist with routine physical examinations and clinics procedures.
• Review lab results and flag abnormal findings to physicians.
• Provide clear communication to licensed clinicians and maintain patient rooms.
• Operate and maintain sterilization and cleaning of equipment as per protocol.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures.
• Manage office/clinic supplies and inventory, including re-supply requests.
• Enter data into the electronic medical record as required.
