Job summary

CLS Health is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support a multispecialty medical practice in Houston, TX. The role focuses on rooming patients, updating medical history, taking vitals, and supporting physicians in clinic.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of MA experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Travel to other CLS Health locations may be required. A patient-centered, detail-oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient and taking vital signs.
• Interviewing/updating patients chief complaint and medical history.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance and verify benefits.
• Scan documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Stock and clean all rooms before and after clinic sessions.
• Refill patient medications and obtain prior authorization as needed.
• Assist physician in exam room with wound care and procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document conversations.
• Educate patients about DI, labs, referrals, and procedures ordered.
• Schedule upcoming appointments after visits.
• Obtain authorization before sending orders.
• Distribute faxes to team members.
• Travel to other CLS Health locations.

We Are Looking For

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Travel to other CLS Health Locations
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
