Job summary

CLS Health is actively seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our multispecialty practice in Houston, TX. You will support safe, efficient patient care, coordinate clinical workflows, and assist physicians across procedures.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking history and vitals, preparing and scanning charts, managing referrals, and keeping rooms stocked and clean. Prior medical office or customer service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accrediation.
• Experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room the patient and interview/update chief complaint, medical history, medication list.
• Take vitals and prepare patient charts a week in advance and verify benefits reports.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance and scan documents to appropriate charts.
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at end of day.
• Refill patient medications as directed and obtain pre-authorization when needed.
• Assist physician in the exam room with wound care and procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log.
• Educate patients about DI, labs, referrals, and procedures ordered.
• Schedule patients for upcoming appointments after visits and manage referrals.

We Are Looking For

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Experience as a Medical Assistant
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
