Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant to support pediatric clinic operations. The role covers vital signs, medical history review, and patient intake with close collaboration with physicians.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, specimen handling, POCT per orders, and administering vaccines while ensuring patient safety and accurate documentation. The position emphasizes teamwork and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
• High School Diploma or GED required across regions.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military training in lieu of a formal MA program.
• 2 years of verifiable MA experience within last 5 years (per some divisions).

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies and procedures.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, med reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review and screenings.
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT per orders and CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely following medication administration rights.
• Handles refills, authorizations, scheduling and referrals.
• Cross trained for duties within clinic scope and maintains patient communication.
• Keeps work environment clean and instruments/equipment properly stocked.
• Assesses age-specific patient needs per department standards.
