Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to support a busy clinic in North Carolina. The role involves patient preparation, vital signs, and documentation to ensure accurate clinical records.

You will perform lab procedures, assist physicians with procedures, administer routine medications per protocol, and help coordinate referrals while maintaining excellent patient flow and communication.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required at time of hire.
• Current Medical Assistant certification from a recognized body (AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMT, NAHP, NRMA) or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• 1 year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and documenting health information.
• Perform laboratory procedures using aseptic technique and standard precautions.
• Assist physicians with procedures (e.g., pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG).
• Administer routine medications under physician/APP orders or standing protocols.
• Coordinate referrals and ensure smooth clinic flow; relay information to patients.
• Communicate effectively with the health care team and patients to ensure quality care.
• Demonstrate safe patient handling and basic clinical support tasks as trained.
