Job summary

Clinica Sierra Vista is seeking a Medical Assistant I to join our Bakersfield clinic in California. The MA I will perform routine patient care and supportive functions under licensed providers, following the State of California scope of practice.

Essential duties include clerical support, medication administration per provider orders, venipuncture, infection control, and documentation in the Electronic Health Records System (ERH).

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card required.
• California Driver’s license required.
• Venipuncture experience preferred; competency within 1 year.
• Experience with EHR documentation favored.
• Must meet health/immunization requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine patient care functions as prescribed by licensed health care providers following established clinical protocols, policies, and procedures within their scope of education, training, and responsibilities.
• Facilitate the practice of their assigned provider(s) by performing routine clerical functions as assigned.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by provider order.
• Verify patient identity using two forms of identification per HIPAA regulations.
• Assist medical personnel with procedures and diagnostic examinations.
• Apply infection control practices.
• Perform Venipuncture and other lab duties.
• Document patient information in the Electronic Health Records System (ERH) following guidelines and confidentiality.
• Able to perform other duties as assigned.
