Job summary

Clinica Sierra Vista is hiring a Medical Assistant I-Float in Bakersfield, CA, to join the South Bakersfield CHC. This full-time role supports front and back-office duties, patient intake, and medical records with emphasis on service quality and accuracy.

The position requires MA program completion, BLS, and a California driver’s license. You’ll work with RN/LVN staff to ensure smooth patient flow and exceptional care in a busy clinic setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card required.
• California driver’s license and valid auto insurance required.
• Associate's degree in business related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support in maintaining proficiency in Receptionist and Medical Assistant duties.
• Train on CSV culture, practice management system, customer service expectations, payer sources, programs and quality initiatives.
• Follow standard work procedures and resolve patient issues at the health center.
• Monitor patient schedules to maximize access and minimize delays.
• Oversee patient check-in/out processes, including collections and deposits.
• Ensure compliance with quality guidelines (TJC, HRSA, PCMH, HEDIS, UDS, VFC, CHDP).
• Provide excellent patient experience and assist patients with financial questions.
• Maintain integrity and standardization of medical records and proper retention.
