Job summary

Akron Children's in Lowellville is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support under the direction of a Provider or licensed Nurse. The role is onsite with a 24-hour workweek and a variable daytime schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program, EMT or Paramedic Program required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Experience or exposure to phlebotomy is preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare environment and with EPIC or similar EMR is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination, takes vital signs, and performs phlebotomy as needed.
• Collects data for assessments and discharge plans under supervision.
• Collects, processes, and submits lab specimens per policy.
• Communicates findings to Providers or Licensed Nurse using proper documentation.
• Documents care accurately in the EPIC system.
• Handles front desk tasks such as scheduling, co-payment collection, and patient tracking.
• Performs department-specific clinical duties like POCT and screenings.
• Maintains clean, stocked examination rooms and supports teammates.
• Develops positive relationships with patients, families, and staff.
• Follows safety policies to ensure a safe care environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
