Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a Medical Assistant II to provide proficient clinical and administrative support under a Provider or Licensed Nurse. This onsite, full-time role includes patient preparation, vital signs, phlebotomy, and EPIC documentation.

Responsibilities span data collection for care plans, specimen processing, and coordinating with the care team. A high school diploma and MA program completion are required, with BLS certification mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program, EMT Program, or Paramedic Program is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association is required.
• Medical Assistant certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination; takes and records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by Providers according to policy and procedure.
• Collects data contributing to assessment and discharge planning under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens per policy and procedures.
• Communicates patient findings to Providers/Licensed Nurse using proper documentation.
• Accurate and timely documentation of care in the EPIC system.
