Medical Assistant I: New Rates of Pay and $2,000 Sign-On Bonus Available

Join Akron Children's as a Medical Assistant I and benefit from new pay rates and a $2,000 Sign-On Bonus.

Position Details:

• Full Time (40 hours per week)
• M-F Variable 8-Hour Day Shifts with Saturday morning rotation
• Availability to work from 7:00 am to as late as 6:00 pm
• Onsite at Medina Pediatric Primary Care
• Sign-On Bonus (Taxable) available

Summary

The Medical Assistant role provides clinical and administrative support for patients under the supervision of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare patients for examination; record vital signs; perform phlebotomy; administer medications as directed
2. Gather data for patient assessment and discharge planning under nurse supervision
3. Handle laboratory specimens following policy
4. Communicate findings to Providers/Nurses and document in EPIC
5. Manage appointment scheduling, visit prep, co-payment collection, and patient tracking
6. Perform department-specific clinical duties like POCT, hearing and vision screenings
7. Complete routine office tasks such as faxing, copying, and filing
8. Maintain examination rooms
9. Build positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues
10. Follow safety policies to ensure a safe environment
11. Other duties as assigned

Technical Skills & Qualifications

• Preferred: Experience in phlebotomy
• Required: Knowledge of medical terminology
• Preferred: Healthcare experience
• Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Preferred: Experience with electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC)

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic program
• Required: BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Preferred: Medical Assistant certification
