Medical Assistant I - New Rates of Pay and $2,000 Sign on Bonus Available

Join Akron Children's as a Medical Assistant I and benefit from new pay rates and a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

Position Details:

• Part-time, 16 hours/week
• Hours: 8am to 4:30pm
• Onsite role
• Sign-on bonus: $2,000 (taxable)

Summary

The Medical Assistant role provides clinical and administrative support for patients under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination, take and record vital signs, perform phlebotomy as needed, administer medications as directed by Providers
• Collect data for assessment and evaluation of patient needs, including discharge plans, under supervision of the Licensed Nurse
• Collect, process, and submit laboratory specimens following policies
• Communicate patient findings to Providers/Nurses using appropriate documentation
• Document care accurately within the EPIC system
• Perform point-of-service activities such as scheduling, visit prep, co-payment collection, and patient tracking
• Perform clinical duties specific to the department, such as POCT, hearing and vision screenings
• Handle routine office duties like faxing, copying, and filing
• Clean, stock, and prepare examination rooms
• Develop positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues
• Follow safety policies to ensure a safe environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Experience in phlebotomy preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology required
• Experience in healthcare environment preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required
• Experience with electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC) preferred

Education and Certification

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic program required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
• Medical Assistant certification preferred
• No prior experience required
