Job summary

Summa Health Medical Group seeks a Medical Assistant to join its Akron, OH office in a full‑time capacity. The assistant will support care teams, maintain daily operations, and execute provided instructions with professional patient care.

Ideal candidates have an approved Medical Assistant program, 1 year of related experience, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel and EMR, with strong communication and HIPAA knowledge. Travel between locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
• One year of related medical office experience; externship accepted.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and EMR systems.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently and in a team.
• HIPAA confidentiality required.
• Ability to travel between locations within the medical group.
• Ability to assist with bodily fluids and potential exposure to disease.
• SHMG employees: obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of hire.
• Must pass yearly clinical skill competencies.

Full-Time – Monday to Friday schedule. Benefits eligible and $1,500 sign‑on bonus offered.

Summary

Participates with the care teams in Summa Health to provide patient‑focused care. Maintains and adapts to daily operations, interprets and executes provided instructions, and works reliably with professionalism in a medical office environment.

Formal Education Required

• Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program

Experience & Training Required

• One (1) year related medical office experience; or externship; or associated experience or education

Other Skills, Competencies And Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and EMR
• Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team

Level Of Physical Demands

• Medium: Exerts 20‑50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10‑25 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force continuously to move objects. Ability to bend, stand, and walk for extended time.

Salary range: $19.23/hr – $23.08/hr. The range is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location, are considered when determining the starting rate.
