Job summary

Summa Health Medical Group in Stow, OH is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the team. You will participate with care teams to provide patient-focused care and adapt to daily operations in a medical office environment.

The ideal candidate has a Medical Assistant program graduate background and at least 1 year of related medical office experience. Proficiency with medical terminology, HIPAA, Word/Excel, and EMR is expected.

Qualifications

Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
1 year related medical office experience or externship.
Knowledge of medical terminology; HIPAA compliance; strong communication.
Ability to travel between locations within the medical group.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
Must pass yearly clinical skill competencies.

Summary

Participates with the care teams in Summa Health to provide patient focused care. Is able to maintain and adapt to daily operations, interpret and execute provided instructions, and work reliably with professionalism in a medical office environment.

Formal Education Required

Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program

Experience & Training Required

One (1) year related medical office experience; or externship; or associated experience or education

Other Skills, Competencies And Qualifications

Knowledge of medical terminology.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and EMR.
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.
Maintain HIPAA confidentiality.
Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
Ability to travel between locations as needed within the medical group.
Required ability to handle bodily fluids and possible exposure to communicable disease.
For SHMG (medical group) employees: Ability to obtain Basic Life Support certification within six months of hire with Summa Health and ability to maintain the BLS certification.
Must pass yearly clinical skill competencies

Level Of Physical Demands

Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force continuously to move objects. Ability to bend, stand, and walk for extended time.
