Job summary

Summa Health is seeking a Medical Assistant I for the OBGYN Office in Medina, OH. The role supports care teams and delivers patient-focused care across multiple locations within Summa Health Medical Group.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program with 1 year of medical office experience, strong knowledge of medical terminology, and proficiency in EMR, Word and Excel. You must be able to travel between Medina, Akron, Barberton and Wadsworth offices.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
• One year related medical office experience; externship accepted.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and EMR.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality.
• Ability to travel between locations within the medical group.
• Must pass yearly clinical skill competencies.
• BLS certification within six months of hire.

Summary:

Participates with the care teams in Summa Health to provide patient focused care. Is able to maintain and adapt to daily operations, interpret and execute provided instructions, and work reliably with professionalism in a medical office environment.

Formal Education Required:

• Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program

Experience & Training Required:

• One (1) year related medical office experience; or externship; or associated experience or education

Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and EMR.
• Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality.
• Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
• Ability to travel between locations as needed within the medical group.
• Required ability to handle bodily fluids and possible exposure to communicable disease.
• For SHMG (medical group) employees: Ability to obtain Basic Life Support certification within six months of hire with Summa Health and ability to maintain the BLS certification.
• Must pass yearly clinical skill competencies

Level of Physical Demands:

• Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force continuously to move objects. Ability to bend, stand, and walk for extended time.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials.
