Job summary

Michigan Medicine offers a part-time Medical Assistant position in outpatient settings, with a 20-hour weekly schedule. You will perform clinical tasks, coordinate patient care, and support lab and clerical functions in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires high school completion and a Medical Assistant program or related coursework; experience with EMR systems and strong teamwork are highly valued. Hybrid work arrangements may be available at the department's discretion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or current enrollment/completion of healthcare-related coursework (1–3 years) or equivalent mix of education/experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of clinical workflows, patient care, and basic medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Clean wounds prior to treatment.
• Perform standard medical laboratory tests (urinalysis).
• Schedule and refer patients to appointments.
• Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies.
• Coordinate patient care with outside health agencies.
• Obtain health status and medical history.
• Maintain patient files and records.
• Complete insurance forms and initiate patient correspondence.
• Arrange for repair of clinic equipment.
• Maintain stock levels and order clinic supplies.
• Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system where required.
