UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh (McCandless) is hiring a Medical Assistant to support the Heart and Vascular Institute. This patient-facing role is in a fast-paced specialty environment, ideal for MAs who enjoy working independently and as part of a large care team.

Responsibilities include managing patient records, obtaining lab and referral information, scheduling, verifying insurance, taking vitals, performing phlebotomy and EKGs, and assisting physicians with procedures while ensuring HIPAA

Qualifications

• Patient-facing role requiring strong patient interaction and confidentiality.
• Experience with HIPAA regulations and medical records is preferred.
• Front office tasks and coordination with care team.
• Ability to take vitals and perform basic procedures as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient records in HIPAA-compliant manner.
• Obtain and process lab/x-ray reports and referral information.
• Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage.
• Take vitals and perform screenings.
• Phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic lab tests as directed.
• Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information.
• Maintain supply inventory and organize patient flow.
• Provide patient education and answer calls.
