About the Medical Assistant / Health and Wellness Coordinator Role

We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, and driven Medical Assistant / Health and Wellness Coordinator to assist our physicians in delivering complex health services in the clinic. This position is based in our Danville, KY office and involves supporting physicians with clinical and administrative tasks.

The role requires flexibility, problem-solving skills, and teamwork. Ideal candidates will have podiatry or orthopedic experience and x-ray skills.

Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing patients for appointments and ensuring their comfort
  • Completing exam intake, including reviewing medical, social, surgical histories, and current health issues
  • Conducting health assessments and managing visits with Upperline Plus patients in Podiatry Clinics
  • Telephonic outreach to coordinate ongoing preventative care
  • Care coordination tasks such as medical records requests, order management, scheduling, and referrals
  • Accurate charting and documentation
  • Providing patient care under physician supervision, including taking and developing x-rays and assisting during exams
  • Daily administrative tasks like stocking exam rooms and cleaning
  • Supporting quality measures and audits
  • Identifying community resources for patients
  • Traveling to nearby clinics as needed
  • Connecting patients with extended care team members like Nurse Practitioners and Care Navigators
Qualifications:
  • Previous Medical Assistant experience; MA certification preferred
  • Podiatry or Orthopedic clinic experience is highly desirable
  • X-ray experience is a plus
  • Experience in clinical care coordination or care management
  • Experience assisting adult and geriatric patients
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience with EMR systems, preferably athenahealth
  • Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Empathetic, professional, and customer service-oriented
  • Reliable transportation, ability to pass background and drug tests
