Gastroenterology Associates, PC in Gainesville, VA is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team. This full-time position operates Monday–Friday with daytime hours and no nights or weekends. The role focuses on clerical support and patient interaction, with opportunities to assist physicians and support patient care.

The team emphasizes respect, integrity, accountability, and leadership. A High School Diploma and BLS certification are required, with prior MA experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant.
• Basic Life Support Certification is required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

• This position will be mostly clerical work with some patient interaction via phone.
• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis as applicable.
• Obtain, verify, and record patient health histories.
• Assist the physician with office visits and emergencies.
• Manage patient prescriptions as directed by physician.
• Handle referrals as directed by physician.
• Answer patient questions and notify test results.
• Prepare exam rooms and restock supplies.
• Escort patients through the office as needed.
