Job summary

BHMG in Kentucky is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in an outpatient clinic. You will obtain vital signs, reconcile medications, collect patient history, and support patient flow.

Additional duties include EPIC EMR management, scheduling, processing medication requests, prior authorizations, and coordinating tests. After competency, responsibilities may include EKGs, lab tests, injections, or phlebotomy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year Medical Assistant experience with direct patient care.
• Graduate of an accredited MA program with hands-on patient experience.
• Clinical competency assessment at hire; MA trainee program if needed.
• Basic computer skills; EMR experience a plus.
• BLS from American Heart Association within 90 days; BAT and DOT certifications within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs and patient history.
• Reconcile medications and document medications.
• Schedule and coordinate patient flow and appointments.
• Process medication requests and prior authorizations.
• Coordinate tests and procedures; assist with EKGs, phlebotomy, injections as needed.
• Manage EPIC EMR and support clinical staff.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow.

Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy.

Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
• 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required. Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG's, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
• Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant:

• Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
• Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
