Job summary

Cook Children’s Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the Gastroenterology clinic in an ambulatory setting. You will work with physicians and licensed staff to prepare and deliver patient care, following the nursing process while emphasizing strong patient relations.

Requirements include a High School diploma and either completion of an accredited MA program or current MA certification; BLS and national certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program OR current MA certification required.
• National certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ambulatory patient care under provider guidance.
• Collaborate with physicians/advanced practitioners in a clinic setting.

Job description

Location: Dodson Medical Office Building Department: Cln-Gastro (GI) Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Standard Weekly Hours: 40 Summary: The Medical Assistant will function in collaborative practice with physician(s) and/or advanced practice provider(s) in an ambulatory care setting. Assists in the preparation and delivery of ambulatory patient care as directed by provider(s) and other licensed clinical personnel. Skillfully and consistently performs clinical duties per established departmental policies and procedures. The care is based on the nursing process and augments the medical plan of treatment appropriate to the ambulatory care setting with an emphasis on good customer relations.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm Education and Experience: High School diploma required. Either a graduate of an accredited MA school OR a current MA certification required.

Preferred Skills

• Experience taking and accurately documenting vital signs
• Experience updating patient information in the electronic medical record
• Experience rooming patients in a clinical setting

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

• Current BLS Certification required.
• National certification preferred.
