We are currently recruiting for a Full Time Medical Assistant/Front Office registrar to join our School Base Health Center team in Bridgeport, CT.
*35 hours per week position - Hours are consistent with public school hours.
*MEDICAL ASSISTANT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED
The SBHC Medical Assistant/Front Office Registrar is a member of the School Base Health (SBHC) Center care team responsible for working with providers, nurses, and/or clinical support staff to ensure the complete and timely patient flow process. This individual exhibits sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population and must maintain strict confidentiality. Assure that pre-work is performed before the patient arrives by verifying demographic and insurance information to ensure prompt payment of services to Optimus. Monitor provider schedules to ensure Optimus’ established productivity levels and timely scheduling of patient visits. Conducts initial intake of patients; Updates patient information; Collects co-pays; Takes patient history; Takes vital signs; Prepares patients for exam & treatment; Performs basic lab procedures; Prepares exam rooms w/ necessary equipment & supplies; Assists with scheduling of tests & treatments. Answer phones, copying, faxing, scanning along with other administrative tasks as needed.
This position will encompass both Clinical and administrative Medical Assistant duties. Bilingual in English and Spanish is helpful and should possess a strong mix of clinical and front office skills. CPR certification required upon hire and recertification bi-annually.
Job Qualification/Requirements:
Professional positive attitude, vision, understanding of customer service principles, trustworthiness, and excellent interpersonal skills to successfully accomplish tasks necessary to meet high standards of ethical and social responsibility required by this position.
Education: Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program. Professional Medical Assistant Certification obtained through one of the following agencies.
Experience: Experience in a clinical setting. Familiarity working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is helpful.
Language Skills: Bilingual: Spanish-English or English/Creole is helpful; Demonstrate the ability to effectively interpret medical terminology.
Licensure / Certification: Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants or in process of acquiring Certification, a plus. CPR certification required upon hire and recertification bi-annually.
