Job summary

McLaren Health is hiring a Medical Assistant in Michigan (Petoskey area) to provide patient care and support clinical operations. The role includes taking vital signs, assisting in procedures, preparing exam rooms, and documenting patient information.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with MA/PCT experience or completion of an approved MA/EMT/Nurse Assistant/LPN/armed services medic/PCT program; BLS within 6 months is often required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and six months experience as a Medical Assistant or Patient Care Tech.
• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of one of the following programs: medical assistant, EMT, nurse assistant, LPN, armed services medic, or patient care technician.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire for Rural Health clinics.
• Float positions may require travel between clinics.
• Preferred: CMA or RMA certification; EMR experience; 1 year in medical office with multiple providers; prior same specialty experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care and procedures to assist in examinations and treatment.
• Prepares examining rooms and stocks supplies.
• Organizes forms for physicals and related visits.
• Collaborates with providers to collect patient history, prepare for visits, document interventions, and perform tasks such as EKGs, venipuncture, and immunizations.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent with MA/PCT experience

High school diploma or equivalent with completion of MA/EMT/Nurse Assistant/LPN/armed services medic or patient care technician program

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months of hire

Float position travel may be required
