UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Washington OB/GYN team in Washington, PA. This role includes back office and front office duties with daytime hours and no evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Applicants should have prior Medical Assistant experience; compensation will be aligned with the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education. Some travel to CA, Waynesburg, and McMurray, PA may be required to support staffing needs.

Qualifications

• MA experience preferred.
• Ability to handle front and back office duties.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and confidentiality.
• Good patient communication and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records per HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports and schedule appointments; verify insurance and demographics.
• Prepare exam/procedure rooms; maintain infection control and inventory.
• Assist with patient transfers, vitals, screens, and escort to rooms.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic clinic labs; document in chart.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA DoH, and UPMC policies.
• Under supervision, administer injectable meds and vaccines when appropriate.
