Job summary

Mercy seeks a Medical Assistant for the Mercy Clinic Southfork Float Pool, supporting multiple specialty clinics in the South St. Louis County area. The role involves direct patient care and back-office support in a busy outpatient setting.

You will greet patients, take vital signs, prepare for exams, document care, and assist with tests and referrals, while ensuring infection control and patient safety. A positive, team-oriented attitude is essential and you must be able to work across

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• One year of applicable patient care experience or applicable medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and room patients and obtain vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during exams and procedures.
• Perform basic diagnostic tests (e.g., urine dipstick, glucose, EKGs).
• Document care accurately and timely.
• Assist with scheduling diagnostic tests and referrals.
• Front office tasks: answer phones, check-in/check-out, manage faxes and scanned documents.
• Maintain infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory procedures/policies.
