Neighborhood Healthcare is seeking a Float Medical Assistant to support multiple clinics in Escondido and San Marcos. The Medical Assistant will support various providers, advanced providers, and registered nurses to provide excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will communicate with patients and perform clinical services to ensure high quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

**This opportunity is for a Float Medical Assistant role supporting the following clinics: Escondido and San Marcos . This role will be expected to float between these sites based on organizational needs.**

Responsibilities

  • Communicates and performs clinical care services with patients
  • Takes patient vital signs and obtains patient intake information
  • Performs clinical procedures such as blood draws, vaccines, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, and EKGs
  • Discusses patient needs and provides education and resources to patients directly
  • Ensures exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and set up for examinations and procedures
Provider and Team Support
  • Coordinates provider workflows to ensure efficient patient care
  • Ensures provider has all pertinent information required for each patient visit including diagnostic images, labs and required screenings
  • Assists other providers and care teams in women's health, pediatrics and general medicine departments as needed
Clinical Administration
  • Utilizes electronic health records to order, process and document clinical treatment plans for patients as directed by the provider
  • Conveys information to patients via telephone or email under the direction of a provider or Registered Nurse
  • Provides patient with requested documents after review to ensure forms are complete, accurate and executed by the provider
  • Completes ongoing/annual training for position compliance

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited program required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment. These courses must follow AHA guidelines but may be completed through approved online providers such as ProMed or other equivalent programs that meet recognized BLS standards.
  • One year of medical assistant experience preferred
  • Valid CA driver license and proof of auto insurance required and to be maintained as a condition of employment.

  • Must use sound judgment to anticipate needs of patients and providers

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift/carry 15lbs/weight

COMPLIANCE (Safety & HIPAA)
  • Follows all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare's Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditions immediately
  • Maintains current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices
  • Uses appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment
  • Familiarity with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits
  • Follows all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols
  • Maintains privacy of all patients, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes
  • Complies with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations
  • Reports all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful

Pay range: $24.95 - $34.93 per hour, depending on experience.

Note: This Float Medical Assistant role will include an additional $2.00 per hour float differential on top of the standard Medical Assistant pay rate.

As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
