Job summary

Neighborhood Healthcare is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Assistant in Escondido, CA to support providers and nurses in delivering patient-centered care in a fast-paced clinic.

The role runs Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm; requires a valid Medical Assistant certificate and BLS. Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred, with EHR proficiency and strong data-entry skills.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited program required.
  • Current BLS certification required upon hire.
  • One year medical assistant experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers and nurses to deliver patient-centered care.
  • Take vital signs and collect intake information.
  • Perform procedures such as blood draws, vaccines, nebulizers, EKGs.
  • Educate patients and provide resources.
  • Maintain exam rooms and supply readiness.
  • Coordinate provider workflows to ensure efficient care.
  • Document treatment plans in the EHR and communicate with patients.

The Medical Assistant will support various providers, advanced providers, and registered nurses to provide excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will communicate with patients and performs clinical services to ensure high quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates and performs clinical care services with patients
  • Takes patient vital signs and obtains patient intake information
  • Performs clinical procedures such as blood draws, vaccines, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, and EKGs
  • Discusses patient needs and provides education and resources to patients directly
  • Ensures exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and set up for examinations and procedures

Provider And Team Support

  • Coordinates provider workflows to ensure efficient patient care
  • Ensures provider has all pertinent information required for each patient visit including diagnostic images, labs and required screenings
  • Assists other providers and care teams in women’s health, pediatrics and general medicine departments as needed

Clinical Administration

  • Utilizes electronic health records to order, process and document clinical treatment plans for patient as directed by the provider
  • Conveys information to patients via telephone or email under the direction of a provider or Registered Nurse
  • Provides patient with requested documents after review to ensure forms are complete, accurate and executed by the provider
  • Completes ongoing/annual training for position compliance

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Valid Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited program required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment. These courses must follow AHA guidelines, but may be completed through approved online providers such as ProMed or other equivalent programs that meet recognized BLS standards.
  • One year medical assistant experience preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred

  • Familiarity with medical procedures and terminology
  • Proficiency with electronic health records system experience preferred
  • Intermediate computer and data entry skills
  • Must use sound judgment to anticipate needs of patients and providers

COMPLIANCE (Safety & HIPAA)

  • Follow all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditions immediately
  • Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices
  • Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • Use appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment
  • Be familiar with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits
  • Follow all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols
  • Maintain privacy of all patients, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes
  • Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations
  • Report all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful

Pay Range: $24.95 - 34.93 per hour, depending on experience.

Compensation Disclosure: The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs. As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
