Job summary

Open Door Health Services, Inc. in Muncie, Indiana, is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for Family Practice/OB to join a supportive interdisciplinary team. The role supports physicians and other staff by preparing patients, taking vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with exams.

Schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Certification or one year healthcare experience required; CPR/First Aid is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; MA certification preferred.
• At least one year of work experience in healthcare clinic/office if not certified.
• CPR & first aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for the provider by taking vitals and recording the primary complaint.
• Brief provider on patient data and status for visits.
• Administer prescribed medications, immunizations and treatments as ordered.
• Assist in screening telephone calls for referrals, lab results, and prescriptions.
• Maintain exam rooms by performing essential cleaning, sterilizing and restocking.

Open Door Health Services is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant at 333 S. Madison St. in Muncie, Indiana.

Overview

As an Open Door Medical Assistant, you will be part of a supportive, interdisciplinary team providing high-quality, compassionate care to individuals and families. Medical assistants perform a variety of patient care activities to support and assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and other medical staff. No clinical experience is necessary if you are certified by an accredited medical assistant program.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Open Door Health Services provides comprehensive primary, urgent, preventive, and select specialty services and social support programs for individuals and families, regardless of their ability to pay. This position is located at 333 S. Madison St.

In this role, you will:

• Prepare the patient for the provider by getting vital signs and the patient’s primary complaint. You may also conduct additional testing and screenings (ex. UA dipstick, glucose reading, pregnancy testing, vision and hearing)
• Brief provider on patient’s data and status
• Administer prescribed medications, immunizations and treatments as ordered
• Assist in screening telephone calls for referrals, lab results and prescription refills
• Performing quality checks and sterilizing, cleaning, and stocking exam rooms
