Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center in Canton, NC is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant for the Haywood Family practice. You will support provider-led care in a two-provider primary care office serving patients ages 4+.

You will perform patient assessments, basic diagnostics, specimen collection, charting, exam-room maintenance and front-desk duties like scheduling and registration. The role offers benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Previous medical office experience is preferred.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient assessments and treatments under supervision.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection; monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Document patient care.
• Maintain examination areas.
• Maintain equipment and medical supplies, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Perform administrative duties: filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Complete other tasks as delegated by the practice leads or managers.
