Back Office Medical Assistant – Primary Care Fresno, CA | Full-Time | $23–$24/hour DOE
Hire Up Staffing is seeking an experienced Back Office Medical Assistant for a well-established healthcare organization in Fresno. This position will provide hands‑on clinical support in a busy Primary Care setting, working closely with physicians, clinical staff, and patients. We are specifically seeking candidates with previous Family Medicine or Internal Medicine experience. Candidates whose experience has been primarily within a specialty practice may not be the right fit for this particular opening.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Room patients and prepare them for examinations and procedures
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medications, and other patient information
- Assist physicians and clinical staff with patient care and in‑office procedures
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure appropriate supplies and equipment are available
- Perform injections, immunizations, and other clinical tasks within the Medical Assistant scope of practice
- Assist with medication refills, prescription requests, and physician orders
- Support referrals, authorizations, laboratory orders, and follow‑up care as needed
- Communicate with patients by phone and in person regarding appointments, instructions, and follow‑up needs
- Accurately document patient information within the electronic medical record
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA and established clinical procedures
- Work collaboratively with physicians, providers, front office staff, and other members of the healthcare team
- Provide professional and compassionate service in a fast‑paced patient care environment
Qualifications
- Previous Back Office Medical Assistant experience required
- Previous experience in Primary Care, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent qualifying Medical Assistant experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology and standard clinical procedures
- Strong computer skills and experience working with electronic medical records
- Excellent communication and patient service skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative healthcare team
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
