Job summary

UNLV Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the ENT team in Las Vegas. This full-time role supports examination and treatment under a physician, ensuring confidentiality and high-quality patient care.

The candidate should have at least a medical assistant program credential, CPR, and HIPAA knowledge, with preferred experience in ambulatory settings and EPIC or similar patient management systems.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalency and Medical Assistant Program graduation required.
  • One year medical assisting experience in an ambulatory/clinical setting preferred.
  • Current nationally recognized Medical Assistant Certification or Registration required or obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Current CPR certification or obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA laws and ability to adhere to confidentiality policies.
  • Knowledge of CLIA and OSHA guidelines and safety practices.
  • Familiarity with EKG and basic drugs in medical office procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in examination and treatment of patients under physician/provider direction.
  • Deliver high quality care while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Support patient management software and basic Microsoft Office tasks.
  • Follow CLIA and OSHA guidelines and safety practices.

Salary Range: $19.00 To $23.00 Hourly

Working Under the direction of physician/ provider. The MA is responsible to assist in the examination and treatment of patients delivering high quality care and services, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Clinic Hours are Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM (Actual scheduled hours may vary depending on business need).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalency.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA laws and ability to adhere to confidentiality policies.
  • Knowledge of current medical assistant best practices and procedures including EKG and basic drugs.
  • Knowledge of medical and pharmacology terminology and medical office procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of patient management software and basic Microsoft office products. EPIC Preferred.
  • Ability to identify and apply proper communication methods in patient instruction.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret and read documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
  • Skills to implement good safety practices that prevent exposure to known workplace hazards and the necessary action needed when exposed.
  • Skill in applying and modifying principles, methods and techniques of a medical assistant to provide ongoing patient care.
  • Strong attention to detail skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • May include standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods.
  • May include performing repetitive tasks.
  • May include working with challenging patients and clients.
  • May include lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use logic reasoning for simple and complex problem solving.
  • Occasionally requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
