Job description

UPMC Department of Endocrinology is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to join their team in McCandless, PA! In this position, you will work Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm assisting providers with patient care including rooming patients and downloading insulin pumps, among other duties. The position offers free parking and room for growth.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the Medical Assistant Career Ladder, based on their experience and education. The listed compensation range reflects the Medical Assistant, Senior title.

Responsibilities:

• Medical Assistant:
• Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and manage charts.
• Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments, clean rooms and equipment, and manage inventory.
• Check schedules, organize patient flow, assist patients with transfers, and collect patient information including vitals.
• Answer calls, provide patient education, perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and assist with procedures.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, maintain confidentiality, and follow policies.
• Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision.

Medical Assistant, Senior:

• Guide workflow, assign tasks, and assist management with supervisory activities.
• Mentor and train staff, serve as department super user for Epic Care.
• Identify improvement opportunities, lead routine staff meetings, and ensure proficiency in practice tasks.
• Handle all responsibilities of a Medical Assistant, including record management, patient preparation, and clinical procedures.
