Job summary

Jefferson Health in Philadelphia is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians during exams, manage patient flow, and perform diagnostic procedures such as EKGs and venipuncture, ensuring accurate documentation and patient comfort.

You will comply with HIPAA, assist with supply orders, and coordinate with staff to maintain efficient clinic operations. A HS diploma and MA certification within 6 months are required; BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• BLS through the America Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania practice locations.
• Experience in physician office or other healthcare setting preferred.
• For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program which includes, at a minimum, 330 hours of instruction and encompasses training in the administration of intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
• For internal Einstein applicants only: Medical Assistant certification is not required if a current Einstein employee in a current Medical Assistant role with a hire date prior to 7/1/2024 when transferring within Einstein entities.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure proper identification.
• Performs and documents vital signs, medical history information, and care quality measures.
• Assists physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and may perform EKG/venipuncture.
• Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
• Orders clinical supplies to maintain inventory and smooth operations.
