Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Tri-Rivers Multi Specialty office in Mars, PA. This multi-specialty site includes a growing Rheumatology and Osteoporosis division and offers opportunities for growth within the Medical Assistant career ladder.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and manage patient charts.
• Prepare patient rooms and equipment, maintain infection control, and manage supplies.
• Check schedules and organize patient flow, accompany patients to rooms, assist with walking and transfers, collect patient information and vitals.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs; assist physicians with procedures and document in medical records.
• Comply with OSHA/CLIA/PA Department of Health and UP...Health System policies; administer injections/vaccines under supervision.
