Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant for Three Rivers Orthopedic Associates at the St. Margaret Hospital Campus. The role includes back office and front office duties with daytime hours Monday to Friday, 7:15am to 3:45pm, and no evenings or weekends. Experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.

Applicants will be placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education.

Qualifications

• Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports and schedule appointments; verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
• Prepare patient rooms and maintain infection control; manage inventory of supplies.
• Assist patients with exams and procedures; take vitals and collect specimens.
• Provide patient education and answer calls with pertinent information.
• Administer injections and vaccines under supervision when appropriate.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA and department policies; maintain confidentiality.
