Job summary

TEEMA seeks a Medical Assistant (MA) for a correctional facility to provide clinical and administrative support under licensed nursing staff. You will assist providers, document vitals, collect specimens, and help with point-of-care testing in a structured, security-conscious environment.

The role requires CMA/RMA credentials, BLS, and at least 1 year of clinical experience. EMR/EHR experience is a plus; a strong focus on confidentiality and infection control is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current Medical Assistant certification or registration (CMA or RMA) as required by state regulations.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of one year of active clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 pounds, and move quickly in a facility.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers during patient examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Record patient vitals, medical histories, and intake information.
• Collect specimens, perform point-of-care testing, and other clinical tasks.
• Safely administer routine medications and treatments as permitted by policy.
• Respond to medical emergencies and support staff during urgent situations.
• Prepare, organize, and sanitize examination and treatment areas while enforcing infection control.
• Monitor inventory and stock medical supplies and equipment.
• Maintain accurate medical records in EHR/EMR systems.
• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate healthcare services.
• Adhere to HIPAA and maintain patient confidentiality in a secure facility.
