Job summary

Henry Ford Health seeks a Medical Assistant - Cont in Sterling Heights to support providers and nursing leadership in delivering compassionate care. The role requires MA program completion with externship or equivalent experience, BLS-C, and basic computer skills, with part-time hours (8–20 hours/week, about 2 days).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).
• Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five years.
• Current MA certification with at least five years of clinical medical assisting experience OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Licensed Paramedic/EMT with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within past five years.
• Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within past five years.
• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
• Current BLS-C certificate.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to the exam room, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable experience.
• Take medical histories and measure/record vital signs accurately.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring they are informed and at ease.
• Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, providing necessary support.
• Demonstrate clinical competence in performing a wide variety of clinical skills related to ambulatory patient care.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).OR

Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years.OR

Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).OR

Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.OR

Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
• Successful completion of HFMG pharmacology class and test.
• Current BLS-C certificate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
