Job Description

Functioning as a team member within a patient-centric care delivery model to ensure high quality and service within the practice setting. Able to proficiently navigate multiple information technology platforms and applications. Provides direct patient care services under supervision, demonstrating ProMedica’s values to the patient.

Accountabilities
  1. Reports for scheduled shifts punctually and professionally, maintaining appropriate behavior, telephone courtesy, dress, identification, and communication with patients’ colleagues and outside agencies.
  2. Collaborates with providers and leadership to enhance the patient experience through daily patient care, clerical support, ongoing projects, and additional duties as needed in a self-directed manner.
  3. Prepares patients for visits by taking vital signs, documenting and entering orders within the EPIC system, coordinating support and ancillary services, preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, scheduling, and supporting providers and patients. Performs specialized tests such as pulmonary function tests and phlebotomy as needed.
  4. Ensures a safe patient environment by adhering to clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and manufacturer guidelines. Reports equipment malfunctions or safety issues.
  5. Supports clerical functions including calls, documentation, and scanning.
  6. Manages patient telephone calls within scope, providing triage and accurate messaging, obtaining instructions from providers and nurses as appropriate.
  7. Supports a superior customer experience through teamwork and professional communication with patients, providers, and staff. Participates actively in staff meetings.
  8. Collaborates with leadership and staff to recommend improvements for safety, quality, and efficiency of patient care.
  9. Performs additional duties supporting ProMedica’s core values.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Skills in promoting customer satisfaction and patient experience.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, problem-solve, and collaborate effectively.
  • BLS (CPR) certification from AHA required at hire or within 90 days.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a recognized Medical Assistant program at an accredited college or university.
  • At least 1 year of experience in direct patient care preferred.
  • Applicable medical certifications (e.g., MA, EMT, STNA) preferred.
