Medical Assistant - Co-Op-Ambulatory care (Finance)

Nemours is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) through our Co-Op partnership in Wilmington, DE.

This position is for a part-time MA through our Co-Op partnership.

Essential Functions:

The MA acts as a liaison between patients, families, providers, and care team members. Responsibilities include coordinating patient flow, assisting with clinical data collection, ensuring proper documentation, performing clinical procedures, and supporting outpatient business processes. The MA also provides cross-coverage, mentorship, and resource support.

• Greet patients and families according to Nemours Standards of Behavior.
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain equipment and supplies.
• Ensure patient documents and diagnostic reports are ready.
• Manage inventory and transport medications.
• Support clinical duties such as measuring vital signs, documenting visit reasons, performing phlebotomy, assisting with examinations, conducting point-of-care testing, administering vaccines, and operating medical equipment.
• Assist with front desk tasks: confirming appointments, verifying insurance, collecting payments, scheduling follow-ups, and ensuring registration accuracy.
• Communicate patient wait times and updates effectively.
• Reconcile payments and complete end-of-day reports.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Facilitate patient use of the Nemours App and assist with registration processes.
• Ensure competency with electronic systems and processes.

Job Requirements:

• Currently in the senior year of high school enrolled in a Vo-tech program.
• Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or certification through an alternative pathway.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
