Job summary

ST. CHARLES HEALTH SYSTEM seeks a Medical Assistant to support daily patient flow across departments, assist physicians, prepare exam rooms, and maintain medical records. The role emphasizes accurate data entry, patient communication, and adherence to privacy standards.

Required: high school diploma or GED, MA certification from AMT/NCCT/AAMA/NAHP, and BLS; preferred: CA or MA program graduate and 2+ years of MA experience.

Qualifications

• Must have basic knowledge of ICD-10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions and procedures.
• Working knowledge of medical practice management information systems.
• Basic knowledge of physician office documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to exam rooms and prep for physician assessment.
• Records and maintains patient's medical data in the medical chart.
• Assists physician with answering phone requests from patients and/or other medical professionals and institutions.
• Performs a variety of physician-requested ancillary and/or surgical patient procedures (excluding IV medications).
• Maintains equipment and supply inventory levels.
• Delivers care with professionalism and confidentiality, complying with laws and policies.
