Job description

Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia, and Westchester County. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant to support our Church Ave location in Brooklyn, NY.

A Medical Assistant supports patients and the clinical team at a designated health center by assisting with medical care as directed by nursing and medical staff, in accordance with the center's policies and objectives. This role performs duties in compliance with organizational standards, with additional responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Complete the rooming process, take vital signs, vision, and hearing tests, and record patient data in eCW (including laboratory results, pain level, PEAS, PHQ, smoke status, etc.). Document the reason for visit.
2. Perform in-house labs, collect specimens for external labs (e.g., Pap smears, cultures), and perform quality control according to organizational protocols.
3. Maintain clinical area stock and cleanliness. Ensure all materials are current and dispose of outdated supplies.
4. Clean and sterilize all equipment, logging each service performed.
5. Handle clerical duties, answer phones appropriately, communicate concerns to nurses, and manage telephone inquiries.
6. Maintain all relevant logs accurately.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• High School diploma/GED with Medical Assistant Training Certificate (required).
• Associate's degree with Medical Assistant Training Certificate (preferred).
• 0-1 year of related work experience.
• Bilingual Spanish skills are preferred.
