The role you’ll contribute:

The Medical Assistant, under general supervision, provides appropriate care to patients and follows AdventHealth service standards. This includes greeting patients safely and effectively, obtaining clinical, financial, and demographic information. Responsible for assisting providers during treatment and examinations, and may assist with procedures and medication administration as ordered by the provider. Performs office duties such as verifying insurance, collecting copays, and scheduling appointments.

  • Assist with screenings per physician orders and enter all information accurately and promptly
  • Perform clinical intake according to AHMG policy and procedures
  • Assist with minor procedures associated with specialty care
  • Travel as needed to fulfill staffing needs
  • Maintain safety and provide whole-person care
  • Maintain education requirements and demonstrate competency as required

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • At least 1 year of practical medical assisting experience AND certification from one of the following:
  • Graduate of a medical assisting program in lieu of experience

Must be currently certified and maintain certification by one of the following organizations:

  • American Association of Medical Assistants (“AAMA”) for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Certification Association (“AMCA”) for Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC)
  • American Medical Technologists (“AMT”) for Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • National Association for Health Professionals (“NAHP”) for NRCMA
  • National Center for Competency Testing (“NCCT”) for NCMA
  • National Healthcareer Association (“NHA”) for CCMA
  • American Registry of Medical Assistants (“ARMA”)

Active American Heart Association BLS certification required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
